all right so let's let's okay okay so i think it's time for starting we waited a little bit but we're gonna start if not we're gonna get some delays we have a quite packed agenda today so first and foremost hello everyone and thank you for joining this webinar it's around 20 degrees here in barcelona it's partially cloudy honestly it's like cloudy and sun um i'm davide and again welcome to the beside barcelona 2021 before before talking about uh today's um this year's edition let's have a little bit a look of what this ideas and its history for uh for the ones of you would don't know about security design that has been that was it is actually a

framework for creating events that actually have been mostly used to create security conferences uh and you know that basically it's a framework for local communities of security cybersecurity enthusiasts to um to build and run these events and the goal is to create um these kind of like an intimate um familiar atmosphere that foster collaboration and where you know the conversation or for the next big thing happened and and specifically you know what the community needs and you know what's trending about cyber security um in in the industry and in the local communities as well it all started in 2011 and 2009 when several speakers didn't uh get um into the black i didn't get accepted black card in las

vegas back then because they weren't basically slots available for them and therefore they decided to create like a parallel side conference which is now called besides las vegas the history behind besides barcelona it's uh it's a little bit different uh we also start as a spin-off of uh the local barcelona cyber security community um i think it's been like four years kind of more or less uh and so we we did several talks workshops you know beers we gathered around the city and in the community was you know quite engaged and and and committed to keep going and and you know create contents and so we decided to uh you know build uh a security conference

we had a chat with few with some of the original founders of beside and you know they gave us the idea to you know create the conference as a beside one using that framework and we did so in 2019 when we had our first edition it was in person here in barcelona and it featured one day it was just one day the whole day it was one track there were nine speakers and 280 participants including volunteers uh you know organizers sponsored attendees these are the people who made this possible uh again they uh worked trendlessly in the past a few months to make sure that this edition was uh as rich and threatening as possible um so

big shout out to them they made an incredible job and you can find them in slack with the you know the beside little page next to their name and so let's let's move now to what we have now okay um so we have this year edition we have two days uh well actually it's two half days honestly uh we have three tracks which are named after barcelona's most iconic buildings and and and elements in the city which is the sagrada familia the park gale and arc de triomphe uh we actually have a fourth track which is the monjuic where we usually have we usually we do have workshops in there indeed we do have this year 20 speakers

two workshops one that run this morning and the next one will run tomorrow morning and we have one round table which will take place tomorrow we are going to have slack chance for communication um we have a channel for each track and then we have the general and the hallway channels um we're gonna use for that if you need to reach out directly to us uh to the volunteers if there's any trouble shooting or any issue that you have just write in there and we will communicate for talks and uh for questions from around the talks we need to um so it's going to use the zoom webinar um which is what we are using right now

but we are also streaming on youtube so for all the attendees they uh don't prefer youtube or you know they don't have the means to join zoom and also we have digital's works of course uh we you will see through the today and tomorrow how you can win some of them but we also have some free giveaways you know to give all of you so check slack and be here in in the tracks we'll share more later how you can get those um also uh thanks to you and the organizers these confidence has been possible we also want to acknowledge and thanks our partners our supporters that allows us to help us to build this conference

segregate will show us how easy or hard it could be to uh turn your mobile phone into a surveillance device in part girl we will meet with brian contos that will um tell us how leverage our leadership skills to communicate cyber security needs effectively uh to the board to the company board and management and then in the arc de triomphe artem svetkov um i hope i spelled that correctly um will uh tell us how to shift security left in the development pipeline by analyzing our code credentials uh in encode thanks to whisper which is an open source software don't forget to follow us if you don't do a review on the on twitter with the
