hello hello hello [Music] i know everybody's outside not paying attention to me but whatever so we're here thank you for coming to closing ceremony really do appreciate it thank you so much for participating it's been a great last two days uh we've heard a lot of great feedback um and everybody seems to enjoy it for the most part so really thankful you could all come again it's basically taken two years to actually do this and so i'm very happy that we were able to to bring this back to in person again because virtual is just not the same um so attend us by the numbers let's let's talk through some numbers um and as far as attendees go we hit 906
and then a bunch of different presenters volunteers villagers sponsors press uh av ctf vendors staff members for 1 1436 total participants which is great awesome super excited for that obviously less than 2020 but based off every other conference we've been talking to on their numbers this is really good so i'm super excited for that uh some additional event stats uh we gave out 47 raffle items and if you actually were able to watch these sponsor passport raffle or um or hopefully maybe even won some stuff there were some really cool raffle prizes that we were able to raffle off so hopefully some of you won some if not always next year um fort and again thanks to our sponsors
for providing those raffle items we did 14 talks that we graphically recorded those will be on the website in the coming weeks but really cool job they were displayed out in the lobby for a while so hopefully you got to see those 38 speakers actually donated their speaker gifts to charity so that's 633 dollars that went to each of the three t-shirt charities this year 240 volunteer shifts uh filled for a total of 558 volunteer hours that is amazing so wanna talk a little about network uh we have a one gig uplink symmetric uplink from webpass um we did almost 500 gigabytes uh in 190 out almost 500 again wi-fi clients a bunch of staff
lots of different other devices and such 17 different access points that were donated to us in previous years and we were able to overflow the video for all tracks as needed um and we for the first time ever actually stream live to youtube uh even though we were really bad about advertising it but first time doing that thanks to all the volunteers that made this possible it was actually a lot of work and a lot of last minute heroics and things but um super happy that it turned out well it's better to see it's better when you don't know that this problem is behind the scene that things just go so smoothly um capture the flag had a great 48 hours
they had 49 different challenges that you had the chance to complete um we almost had we had 589 players total 104 teams 66 on site with at least one flag um and then our winners uh in third place these are all local um ones i believe uh maple bacon and second place meow and first place ept if you find me afterwards i will be happy to hook you up with your prizes there yes [Applause] our villages um are awesome every year we have such great villages always happy to have them thank you so much to all the our villages that donate their time to come and they don't get to enjoy the talks um they spend the time teaching other
people um things and sharing their knowledge so really do appreciate them um this year we had crypto and privacy village we had our lockpick village and we had our hardware village um and iot village as well so i want to say just uh thanks to all of our um villages again give them all around the flaws [Applause] so running we weren't able to get the the number final numbers but in order of just like um mosa we had uh the majority of folks donated to women in security privacy then we have eff and codepath.org we'll have final numbers that we will post on our blog post and our follow up emails soon but yes so excited that
very happy that we could give back to charities this is something that i stole from shmukhan years ago and uh was super cool i thought it was a great idea and so i just was like hey how can we give back to the community as well um and so this is one of those ways so i just wanted to give a well deserved thanks to all the people that helped make this uh conference possible um in fact they're all running around so i don't think anybody's actually in the room right now so let's give them all a round of applause they're all doing tear down right now but from the leads um aaron becky crystal david ian isaac
jesse monsie megan ming nate myself richard ricky ryan sarah steve tanya and tim and on the staff side we have bali carlos david video man jim liza matt nick parker ted and zach so it's staff about 29 folks a special shout out to megan and ricky they're always keeping me in check for things so again let's give a round of applause to everybody here [Applause] i cannot express the amount of hours and time that uh and energy and everything else that these people have put into things because it takes us uh at least a full year to put one of these together um and it is a lot of time and all of us have day jobs that um
we're thankful to have good bosses that give us the time to do this but um you know it's there's times when i've had to tell my boss to like hey i'm not going to be able to do my actual job today i have to do b-side stuff so again very thankful for everybody that donates their time additional well deserved thanks again to our cfp review panel asta alex ben evan kelly miranda colleen kyle jonathan ann kerry and enuge also then we have our capsule flag puzzle masters brandon david nero and ron and 123 different volunteers over the course of the weekend i'm doing all kinds of roles everything from setup to registration info desk to code check
room moderator to safety ops so i just want to give a round of applause again to all of our different volunteers and some just interesting facts i i found these interesting uh we had 349 volunteer shifts 180 uh uh actually this is all old blah blah blah never mind um but yeah it's it's a lot of work uh to put this into if you're interested in becoming a volunteer just even just during the event itself um just stay tuned closer to the event next year uh we announced things on twitter and twitter's are kind of a main source of information and then also you can subscribe on our website to our kind of newsletter as well
i just want to say give a major shout out to all of our sponsors without our sponsors we could not make this event possible uh it is we are we are the most expensive b-sides like as far as just cost to put it on in the world because it's san francisco and it is ridiculously expensive to do an event here um and so uh you know i just want to give a major shout out to all of our sponsors we cannot do this event uh without you and especially since we try very hard to keep our actual ticket cost very low comparatively to what all we can offer folks so i just want to say a
special thanks to all of our sponsors especially our five leading sponsors adobe app omni code red partners google and upticks let's give another round of applause to all of our sponsors
as i said earlier we do need help um you know we we've had a lot of staffers that have moved on because of the pandemic they've moved other places um some that have just been doing this for a very long time and and want to move on as well um so please help us make future events successful um it does require a non-durable time commitment just to be very honest with you for the the staff and lead positions uh if you are okay with that please reach out via besides sf.org slash jobs we would love to talk to you after the event it's very rewarding don't get me wrong it is a lot of time but it is great
to go around and see everybody's well i guess you can't see smiling faces right now but um you know they can tell in their eyes at least that uh and just that they're enjoying things um and that it's a good conference overall so please if you are able we would love to have your help um again it's it's something that we are an urgent need of in order to make sure this event continues to happen finally just want to say give us feedback just general feedback we love feedback we go through it line by line every year there are kind of two different ways you can get feedback if you have any kind of general feedback you can go to besides
sf.org feedback there's a feedback form or if you have session specific feedback if you go on sked you can go to the bottom of any different entry on scad and you can provide feedback that way well that's a wrap for besides sf uh 2022 from the ground up [Applause] next step will be and oh yes there we go next up will be uh uh besides sf uh 2023 april 22nd and 23rd of next year we have not picked a theme yet um [Music] if maybe maybe dragons and unicorns or something here whatever um but help us choose next year's theme please tweet at us if we pick your idea we'll get you some kind of really awesome prize of some
sort so we're open for ideas please reach out and again hope to see you all next year thanks again for coming and that's a wrap uh we do need help cleaning up so if you want to stay around and help clean up otherwise please leave thank you love you all
