hello everybody welcome to closing ceremonies first of all thank you so much for coming it's been an awesome two days so happy to have every one of you here you know we would not be a conference without each and every one of you as the participants adding to the conversations and again it's just it's been an amazing two days so thank you again so let's talk a little bit attendance we had almost 1500 tickets purchased and I think it doesn't include any presenters volunteers sponsors or staff and we had about 1200 actually check in for the presenters and so you know 84% and so I think that's that's an awesome number to actually show up I
really appreciate it so network and Internet you can see this is our router on top of a soda machine back in the back corner we pushed almost 300 megabits second is peak then we had 350 two gigabytes pushed 571 devices total which is awesome to actually trust our network I don't know why you do that at a hacker conference like that's soon yeah and I get we did this based off six unify devices and in several AC pros as well and then of course several rogue ap's yeah thanks so we had a one gig connection from wet pass that was set up on the roof or an inside they did a yeah the device they
use it either all and it's 80 guards two adjacent building now i'll helping run the network this year is a guy known as video man he does a lot of the other networks for several data cons so if you had looked at the weather lately you will notice that minneapolis had a big snow storm about two days ago well so his flights were all canceled and so all the equipment that was on his that he was going to bring with him he could not so luckily enough we solved this coming and and we're able to basically go and buy a bunch of stuff on Amazon on Next Day Delivery and so we basically built this
this networking card basically thanks to two of our staffers Ryan and Ian and video man David was there with us remotely helping getting us everything going and so we would not have a network without the three of them so I just want to give a special a round of applause to them okay so capture flag tournament we had 39 challenges this year 341 players total and 140 different teams so let's talk about the winners as you're called please come to the front room and we can give you your prizes so for third place we have in us gray hats with 4895 points and they're going to get a hack five packet squirrel and some lovely hacker
one swag cool thanks again and for second place we had se works with five thousand three hundred and twenty points an Android Surya an Arduino starter kit and lovely heck one swag as hacker one is the sponsor the CTF this year in first place we have DCU a Lucca with six thousand six hundred and twenty points and they get an uber tooth one with some really cool swag so do we have anybody representing DC you a here nobody oh well if that's the case you must be present to win then we'll figure out and it makes sure the the will swap out the prizes and get the next runner up for that so cool well we'll move on thank
you let's talk about the IOT village CTF they had a really amazing suite of different devices to play with they had 12 different teams and the winners for further challenged and they've you know I've already been contacted about this at third place was nor tango dog with 1000 points second place was this you know so skis with 2000 points first place was who am i with 3,000 points so gram applause to all of them living security escape room they had 12 escape rooms running in the back corner in villages amazing teams the winning team by an astounding two minutes over the second-place team is the cats with 24 minutes and 17 seconds out of a
30-minute time period and in that team included Ursula dr. another cat Carolyn NIC and Hanson and they're going to be each receiving a cybersecurity card game called cyber security cards and again thanks to all the participants everyone did a great job [Applause] so sponsor raffles we had a couple of the sponsors do separate raffles than ours just at their own booths it's just when I announced the the winners here cloud passage for an Intel nook it was angel Barrera t-cell gave away a Nintendo switch to Vita I'm really bad with names sorry and then adieu SHINee I'm sorry I'm not even try in dimension de that gave that Amazon tap to to her mom the puzzles in the program I don't know
if anyone saw but there's actually four puzzles in the program this year the first one the answer is welcome to b-sides and it's just a simple caesarean cipher it's shift so equals zero because one and so it was a class and equals K for puzzle number two the answer was I sim as Sam bard Kingdom Brunel's magic button went down the rabbit hole and it's a transposition real Finn's cipher it makes perfect five perfect V's when written out the most available is the is that the letter eyes and a zero and the next letter in is eight in the tin is based off the first year besides which is 2010 and Brunell created the steam-powered SS Great Britain so again
coming with with the steampunk theme puzzle 3d what an implement of torture I have acquired in you if you copy and place that directly in the computer they would convert directly to binary versus gibberish then you do base64 conversion dividing the remaining groups into groups of six using a base64 table this is a quote from Lord Byron a 19th century poet and about his only legitimate daughter out of Lovelace and the final puzzle is you didn't have to save my name and I'm a surgeon sort of flame but you did a gust at a king no bro Byron and it's very complicated but basically convert all the hexadecimal binary in which you convert from hex the
rest won't work then you had your full stuff from the other puzzles from puzzle to remembering the number 10 you subtract 10 from each decimal to the end and then the decimal numbers now convert to that after subtracting the rest won't work the final parts require requires converting from 6 bit date bit and from there there's a direct conversion to this and this is a steampunk song from the band steampunk seem powered giraffe so uh special thanks to avi for coming up with our puzzles this year has a new edition no prizes or anything this year we're just kind of playing with it and see how it works as teacher cherries something new we did
this year so is is you bought one of our t-shirts this year you could put a token into one of three boxes to represent charities and we had three different charities this year we had the ffs hackers for charity and girls in tech and you see eBay ffs got a little over two thousand dollars hackers for charity got almost a thousand and girls in tech raised a little over twenty three hundred so let's give a round of applause to all three of those charities and for the money raised for them so awesome including three dollars that was actually stuck in there as well so let's talk about our sponsors thanks again so much to our sponsors we would not be
able to put this conference on without them again special thanks to our leading sponsors this year cloud passage Google and hacker won so please give me a round applause for all of our sponsors excuse me I'm my voice is almost gone so I'm gonna hurry through this so we can get on happy hour so thanks so much to my staff it's a staff of 13 you know and these people work year-round to to put this conference on it's a it's a big commitment it takes a lot of time you know and our players thankfully give us that time to do spin on this and so if my staffers are here in the audience please stand up show yourself I knew I
see you Steve stand up so cool I asked but yes thanks so much to all of my staff this year especially and special thanks to Megan she's my right right-hand woman she if she keeps me in check if I'm CEO she is CEO oh she is she makes this all happen so I know she's actually in the back right now setting up the happy hour but just let's do it round of applause just for Megan

for that and again the conference would not be possible without all the volunteers you know again we had 180 this year that filled 250 slots and so it's it's amazing I have falls to all of our volunteers thank you all cool again feedback as I've been saying any kind of session QH can go and peerless for asynchronous feedback any of you have session feedback that you want us as the the staff members to see put it directly in the sched and we will take a look at that on the individual sessions and then you have general feedback around the conference itself please go to besides that org slash feedback and give it to us we're also gonna be sending out a
survey to those that are we have your email addresses send that out and so please fill that out we really appreciate the feedback it helps us to plan next year's icon and make sure that we you know add new cool things that people want we take away the stuff people didn't want to make make it work better and bigger and you know keep people coming so again please provide us all the feedback you can do appreciate it and with that besides SF 2019 is next year March 3rd and 4th it's gonna be soon it's less than a year to go so hope to see everybody there now yes now we're about to have a happy hour
sponsored by rapid7 there are a bunch of extra swag bags at the back of the room so as you're heading back to the bar for a happy hour please grab a tote bag if you don't already have one or if you want to give to somebody you know we need to get rid of those I don't want to take this back with me please so thanks really appreciate it thanks for coming have a great day
